“Cameron and team provided a fair estimate of costs for our bathroom remodel. The estimate came within a day of the site visit. We were provided weekly updates to the master schedule, with more frequent communications when there were issues or decisions that were needed. Several problems popped up which were supplier-related, and they always proposed a good workaround.

The quality of the work was excellent. Project completed on time. Completed under budget. For a small project, we felt as if we were given high priority for timeliness and satisfaction.

I definitely recommend Cameron and Damskov Construction.”

“We had Damskov Construction renovate our home over the past couple months. They did tremendous work and I would recommend them to anyone. Cameron and Tom are both very nice and easy to work with. We also really enjoyed their electronic system of making decisions and keeping up to date on progress. Excellent contractors!”

“We were incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Damskov Construction on our full remodel. Cameron was very hands-on. He understood the vision we had for our home and made it happen. Cameron was very attentive, organized, responsive, and calm under pressure. I especially appreciated the fact that Cameron respected our budget and timeframe, and helped us make decisions to ensure we stayed within our budget, but still selected high-quality fixtures and details. The entire Damskov Construction team is very respectful, professional and their attention to detail is impeccable. Our home is now everything we dreamed it would be and so much more. We can’t thank Cameron and his team enough for bringing our vision to life. We highly recommend Damskov Construction for all of your construction needs.”

We have used Damskov Construction twice for two huge house projects to remodel our 1926 Seattle Tudor and could not be more satisfied with the results. Cam and his team deliver outstanding quality, clear and concise communication, and stay within budget. Just as important, the entire team is professional, trustworthy, and kind. This team has made our house projects fun and enjoyable and the results are above and beyond what we could have imagined. Cam spends time understanding your vision and collaborates with you on ideas to bring your vision to life. Two years ago, we did our entire basement remodel with the team and loved the results. The next year, we used Damskov Construction to take on our kitchen, living room, powder room, and master bath and now, again, could not be happier with the outcome. Now that our projects are done, we even miss having the crew around the house. We recommend Damskov Construction to everyone we know.

“The team was very respectful, helpful, and gave us an accurate bid. When I had questions, the responses were fast and included samples as requested. We were on a very tight timeline and he was able to complete the task within the estimate. Everyone was friendly and considerate. I was very impressed with how well the working area was kept clean. I am looking forward to using their services again next year for another bath remodel.

“Our friend and realtor recommended Damskov Construction to us for a kitchen remodel in the summer of 2014. We scheduled a bid meeting with Cameron and found him to be friendly and professional. He listened to our ideas, gave recommendations, took measurements, and followed up with CAD drawings.

Although we received bids from other contractors, we selected Cameron because of his prop responses, knowledge and recommendations, and trustworthy demeanor. The primary goal of the project was to remove a wall between the dining room and kitchen to increase the width of the kitchen and create an open-concept living space on the first floor of our home.

We lived in our house during the project but had the entire kitchen/dining area tarped off during construction. The original timeline and estimated budget were based roughly on 2 1/2 months of work. This included removal of the wall, installation of new cabinets, hardwood floor, new door, painting, and lighting, among other things. We completed the majority of the demo ourselves.

Overall, the Damskov Construction team was great. The first month and a half of the project progressed nicely. Cameron’s team hit a delay when one cabinet was damaged during installation and a new one had to be ordered (no additional charge to us), setting the project back a couple of weeks due to custom cabinets.

Additionally, the uneven floors in our 1949 home presented a small problem for cabinet installation resulting in custom sizes needing to be ordered, this also contributed to the timeline being delayed. Several months after construction was complete, we noticed a crack in the ceiling where a support beam was put in place of the removed wall. We notified Cameron and he responded immediately with his evaluation of what happened (homes in the Seattle area can shift slightly) and action plan. His team came over, fixed the crack, and re-painted it, causing no inconvenience to us.

We were extremely happy with how quickly the issue was addressed. “

“Damskov Construction is an incredible team. They were detail-oriented and operated with the highest integrity at all angles. Whether it was ensuring the crack in our foundation was fixed for a long-term solution, or helping to design our space to optimize areas that were difficult in our 1940s home—they remained on task while consultative. Their work is outstanding, and they stand by it through and through. You can rest easy that this team is doing the right thing by you, your home, structural needs, design standards, and your budget. This is the second home Damskov has helped us recreate and we couldn’t be happier. We’ll continue to recommend this team to coworkers, family, and friends!”

“We recently completed an almost gut renovation of our 1989 house with Damskov Construction. Cam, Tom, Jordan, and the crew were fantastic to work with. They are organized, professional, do high-quality work. As a bonus, they seem to enjoy what they do and are fun, nice people to be around. Even our kids had fun with them. They seem to have good relationships with the subs they choose to work with, and we were happy with all of them too. Our project involved adding a rooftop office and new stairs, a lot of structural work, removing walls, complete kitchen and bath reno, basement kid’s room, new windows, new stucco, and exterior paint, getting rid of dry rot, new hardwoods to weave in and match the old, some of everything.

Even though our project grew bigger than we planned and was stressful financially, Cam and his team were respectful of our budget, interested in helping us find ways to save and minimize the cost of unexpected expenses. One of the biggest things was their expertise in managing the project and keeping it moving on schedule. It was intimidating to embark on such a big project as rookies, but I actually enjoyed the process and believe it went as smoothly as possible. We are so glad we decided to go for it, and absolutely love our “new” house. All in all, we’d highly recommend Damskov Construction!”

“Cameron and the Damskov crew did a great job on our 1941 home remodel in the Seattle, Roosevelt/Ravenna neighborhood. Our renovation included nearly the entire main floor: 2 bedrooms, hallway, living room, entry, dining room, and kitchen.

The Damskov crew were up against many challenges before we even started… Our house was built in the ’40s! Things have shifted, nothing is square or level anymore, and building codes have changed dramatically since then. We didn’t want to be able to see the difference between what stayed and what was remodeled, we wanted it to look like one house. On top of that, my wife and I were expecting our first baby and we had agreed with each other that we’d do the remodel ONLY if we could complete it in advance of our son’s arrival, which made the timeline very tight.

Furthermore, we’re the type of homeowners who don’t exactly see everything as we want it right from the start, which means we get new ideas as the project unfolds. We’re also really picky, but don’t want to be viewed as high maintenance! With that as a backdrop, here’s what they completed:

We removed two interior walls increasing the flow and space between our galley kitchen, dining room, and living room. It’s amazing! We’re now able to carry on a conversation between the kitchen and living room. We can also host larger parties because people don’t get stuck in the doorway between the kitchen and dining rooms. As part of the kitchen/dining room renovation, we wrapped the kitchen countertop into the dining room to make a pseudo island/counter high eating area and installed a 10′ bench seat on the other dining room wall which doubled our seating capacity for larger dinner groups and neighbors who pop in to say hello. We completely gutted the kitchen updating cabinets, countertops, backsplash, ceiling, and under-cabinet lighting, and moved appliance as well as electrical outlet locations. This was the largest part of the renovation.

Throughout the rest of the house, we replaced all the windows, insulated all exterior walls, replaced interior and exterior trim work, installed can lighting, and textured and painted all walls/ceiling. Furthermore, we added interior closets (5′ with sliding doors) in both of the bedrooms.

The end result: How they did in light of the challenges and work to be completed. We’ve seen a few construction projects over the years, my wife’s dad is a general contractor, and virtually every project that we’ve seen costs more and takes longer than anticipated…if you’re not already planning for that, you’ll be in for a rude awakening regardless of who you choose. Meeting our timeline was priority #1. And although that it took roughly 2 weeks longer than their estimated date for completion, they did in fact get us all moved in with weeks to spare before the birth of our son.

In our book, that was a job well done! The other priority for us was money…and not spending more than we had! On the front end, Cameron did a great job estimating and bidding on the project. We appreciated his transparent and accurate line item budget approach. Throughout the project, he did a great job keeping us posted on the cost implications for changes as we made them. Not only that but there was one point when we wanted to add to the scope of work and Cameron convinced us that it would have negative implications on the timeline and budget. On our roughly 90K project, we ended up spending about 25K more than we had originally planned. That was in large part due to the fact that we increased the scope of work. To Cameron’s credit, he was very willing to discuss overages we didn’t believe we were responsible for and he ate those costs.

Beyond their great work on managing the timeline and budget, they did a great job managing the art and science of remodeling a home that was built in the ’40s. Just because a new window is square doesn’t mean it looks right; sometimes you have to split the difference, and on our kitchen window, that’s exactly what we had to do! Cameron and his crew were great about working within that tension. Our project wasn’t without hiccups. There were a couple of different times when completed window trim, framed wall, or painted ceiling didn’t look quite right to us. So, we brought it to the guy’s attention and they worked to fix it. Frankly, that’s how we overcame all of the challenges mentioned above – gave them honest feedback (both positive and negative), as it came to our attention, and they worked to address it as needed.

Throughout the entire project, Cameron and the Damskov Construction crew were great partners for us. Not only did they meet our expectations from a time and budget standpoint, but they also went above and beyond with their friendliness and care for our home and for us as expecting parents. Having them in our home wasn’t a burden. Not only that, their subs were great to work with too. For projects like ours, quality construction, on time, and budget management, are all required prices of entry. What sets shops apart is their ability to be true service providers who work with homeowners in real-time and who exhibit integrity and really give you a sense that you can trust them. Cameron, his crew, and subs will provide you with that level of service and integrity. We’ve already recommended them to our friends and will continue to do so.”

The quality of the materials, craftsmanship, and attention to detail made it a no-brainer to refer Cam to our neighbors and friends. I have worked with Cam Damskov for over 3 years. His best qualities are his organization skills, timely, friendliness, and meticulousness. My company does the landscaping installation and we always know when we need to be there, have the contact info about the homeowner, and always coordinate well with the other subs.
